Tadano Increased Sales by 35% in 2013

Net sales at crane manufacturer Tadano were up 34.8% for the 2013 financial year, to $1.78 billion. The figure for the 2012 financial year was $1.32 billion.

Net income was up more than 96% to $141 million or 7.9% of sales. Operating income and ordinary income also both basically doubled. It is the third year running that revenue and profit has increased for the Japanese manufacturer. Sales outside Japan were up by 44.3% while sales in Japan were up by 25.6%. The export figure of just over half the sales (52.5%) was greater than the previous record from 2008. The manufacturer also claims a global market share of 20.2% for wheeled mobile cranes in the 2013 calendar year, up from 15.4% the year before.

As a proportion of the total, wheeled mobile cranes were 65.7% in 2013, compared with 59.7% the year before. Truck loader cranes were 10.2% compared with 11.3% the year before although the value was up, at $182 million compared with $149 million) in 2012.

Looking ahead, Tadano forecasts an increase in net sales of 5.6% for the 2014 financial year, to $1.88 billion.
