3D Lift Plan of the Year Winner Announced

Adrian Lacey, 3D Lift Plan Specialist of Sims Crane & Equipment Co. is the winner of the 2012 Lift Plan of the Year contest. Organized by A1A Software LLC, known throughout the construction industry as an innovative web development and software company, the contest came down to eight finalists. Lacey took the coveted first-place honors, as well as the Acer Windows 8 Tablet as an additional sign of congratulations on a job well done.

Titled “Concert Setup”, Lacey’s project involved setting the stage at Raymond James Stadium, in Tampa, Florida, to kick off the Brothers of the Sun Tour with Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, and Jake Owen. The lift consisted of over 200 workers in a precise and choreographed setup, using a Tadano TT600XL and Tadano TT300XL for the two-day operation. This project carried particular significance due to the fact that the guidelines set forth would remain the prototype for each setup throughout the remainder of the tour in stadiums across the country.

A1A President Tawnia Weiss could not be happier with the results of the contest, and foresees a bright future for the competition, as well as its participants. “We were very happy with the voting turnout of the contest; we had about two thousand votes turned in. We’re also very happy for Adrian. He attended our boot camp last October and his dedication since then to learn the 3DLiftPlan is reminiscent of what we would like to have happen with the training classes.”

Founded in 1959, Sims Crane is one of Florida’s construction industry leaders in safety practices, education, innovative technology, and financial stability. Sims is family owned and operated, and is ranked in the ACT Top 100 — with the added designation of being the only company in the Top 15 headquartered in Florida.

Second-place honors went to Dave Steffens, of Lane Construction, for his project “Overpass Build”. Steffens found a solution to some complicated beam setting on a 250-foot bridge build. He donated his prize money to The Brandon Schauf Medical Fund. A third-place $50 gift card prize was awarded to Stanley Hamilton of Topping Out Inc., for his “Gateway Construction” project — a beautification of a viaduct near downtown Council Bluffs, Iowa.
