2013 ICUEE Was a Great Success

A variety of booms filled the skies over the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville October 1-3 at ICUEE, International Construction and Utility Equipment Exposition. A range of lifting equipment targeted to the utility industry was on display, with Tadano Mantis and Link-Belt showing the highest capacity cranes with the 77-ton Tadano Mantis 15010 and the 80-ton capacity TCC750, respectively. According to AEM, 2013 ICUEE was a huge success. Registered attendance was more than 17,500. Participants came from all 50 states, all 10 Canadian provinces and 50 other countries worldwide.

"We hope the great turnout and participation at this year's ICUEE points to more sustainable and broader industry growth”, said Sara Truesdale Mooney, ICUEE show director.

ICUEE 2013 had a record 862 exhibitors, and the show floor hit a record 1,173,957 net square feet, including co-located H20-XPO and iP Utility Safety Conference & Expo.

“ICUEE is known as a venue for utility and contractor professionals to meet face to face with their industry peers across the country and worldwide to exchange information”, Mooney said. “There were numerous new product introductions, and we heard many favorable comments from both attendees and exhibitors about the high caliber of the 2013 show and the high-quality professional support from AEM as show owner and producer. The indoor and outdoor exhibits offered the ultimate in comparison shopping for new products and equipment, with the hands-on product demonstrations that are a hallmark of ICUEE."

Boom trucks in all styles and capacities were shown, with National, Manitex, Elliott and Altec launching new models. Popular this year were boom-trucks mounted on crawler tracks, sort of a small-scale hybrid telecrawler. Elliott, Altec and National showed these machines, and Manitex announced its intent to add one to its product line.

Link-Belt Marketing Specialist Scott Knight summed up the show: “Link-Belt was pleased with telecrawler activity in our booth. We knew going into this show that our telecrawler lineup is on the higher end of the shopping list for many attendees. In turn, we looked for the quality of customer that we spent time with and not necessarily getting big numbers of 'foot traffic' through our area."

The next ICUEE will be held September 29 - October 1, 2015 in Louisville, KY.
