OSHA is seeking nominations for eight new members to serve on its Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health (ACCSH). ACCSH is a continuing advisory committee that advises the Secretary of Labor on formulating construction safety and health standards, as well as on construction-health policy. Federal law requires the Assistant Secretary of Labor to consult with ACCSH whenever the agency proposes any safety or health standard that affects the construction industry.
The committee generally meets two to four times a year, and ACCSH members normally serve staggered two-year terms, unless they resign, cease to be qualified, become unable to serve, or the secretary removes them.
ACCSH is composed of 15 members appointed by the secretary. Five members present the viewpoint of construction-industry employers. Five members represent construction-industry employees. Two represent state safety and health agencies. Two are members of the public, and one is a special designee of the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
OSHA is currently seeking nominations in order to appoint three employer-viewpoint representatives, three employee-viewpoint representatives, one state safety and health agency representative, and one public representative.
Nominations and supporting materials must be postmarked or sent electronically by Jan. 7, 2013. They may be sent by mail, courier, fax or online.
