JLG to Demonstrate the Innovative LiftPod at VPPPA 2011

New product demonstrates JLG’s leadership in low-level access equipment

JLG's LiftPod
McConnellsburg, Pa. (August 23, 2011) — JLG Industries, Inc., an Oshkosh Corporation company [NYSE:OSK], will exhibit its line of LiftPod® personal portable lifts at booth # 918 during the Voluntary Protection Programs Participants’ Association (VPPPA) Expo. The Expo is held in conjunction with the 27th Annual VPPPA Conference, and will take place August 29–31, 2011, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.

The LiftPod provides facility and safety professionals with a low-level access alternative to ladders, scaffolding and rolling ladders, and is ideal for workers who require a portable, affordable, safe and productive option when working at a variety of heights.

The LiftPod personal portable lift consists of just three lightweight components, each weighing 50 pounds. In addition, it can be assembled and disassembled in less than 30 seconds. Once disassembled, the LiftPod conveniently fits into the back of a pick-up truck, van or SUV for easier portability between job sites.

The affordable LiftPod is available for less than $2,500, and helps improve fall protection for workers, which is the second most frequently cited standard by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).To further increase safety, workers in the personal lift have complete, hands-free 360-degree range of motion in an enclosed carriage and a secure platform.

The LiftPod also instantly boosts productivity as it does not require an OSHA-regulated two-man operation. Instead, one worker can climb in the platform and safely begin the job at once. With an attachable work tray that holds up to 33 pounds of tools and materials, the LiftPod has a 330-pound rated capacity. It is powered by an 18V cordless drill or an optional Power Pack Kit for ease of elevation.

“JLG strives to build awareness of workplace safety through education, and we think the safety professionals who plan to attend VPPPA 2011 will be a perfect audience to see firsthand how the LiftPod directly contributes to the overall safety of building worksites,” said Randy Marzicola, JLG Industries director of channel development. “As a worldwide leader in access equipment, we believe in the importance of innovation and continuing to meet our customers’ needs. The LiftPod fills a void in the marketplace for an affordable and portable low-level access solution when working at a variety of different heights.”

Along with the FS80 model, JLG will be displaying the new LiftPod® FS60 at the Expo. The FS60 is ANSI A92.3-2006/CSA B354.1-04 compliant, and has a 30-inch base that allows it to be transported through standard doorways and tight aisles fully assembled. With a 12-foot working height and a 6-foot standing height, the FS60 has non-marking rear caster wheels for enhanced mobility. The FS80 has a working height of 14 feet, and an 8-foot standing height.

Attendees who visit the JLG booth will have the opportunity to sign up for a test drive of the LiftPod and examine how the LiftPod assists with maintenance and repair in a variety of environments, including industrial, commercial, hospitality, educational and healthcare facilities, as well as office buildings. LiftPod’s YouTube channel features the LiftPod working in these settings as well.

The 27th Annual National VPPPA Conference offers industrial hygienists, environmental health specialists, union representatives, consultants and government representatives opportunities to network, learn and advance as leaders in occupational safety and health. At the Expo, over 200 vendors will gather to showcase products and services.
