There are trainers…and there are people who put their heart and soul into imparting reliable, comprehensive, technical information intended to make you safer and better at your job. Five years ago, Crane & Rigging Hot Line implemented the Top Trainer recognition program because of the intrinsic role training plays in the overall safety of crane and rigging operations. Again in 2012, the Association of Crane & Rigging Professionals endorses the Top Trainer program. The association’s mission of improving crane operations and rigging activities through education is closely aligned with the purpose of the Top Trainer program. ACRP will assist in judging nominations for the award.
“It is a natural fit and honor for ACRP to endorse the Top Trainer awards. It is a small, but sincere, way to express our gratitude for the trainers who excel in their endeavors to make our industry safer,” said Danny Bishop, ACRP chairman of the board and director of training for The Crosby Group, Tulsa, Okla.
While the program remains essentially the same, Crane & Rigging Hot Line has made a couple of changes to make the nomination process easier. Top Trainers will be recognized in two categories—Professional trainers and Corporate trainers working for manufacturers, dealers, contractors, crane rental firms, etc.
Evaluation criteria includes:
New this year, nominations can be made online using a multi-question nomination form, rather than the essay format used previously. In addition, trainers can nominate themselves, or they can be nominated by a customer or supervisor. One change to the rules: Previous Top Trainer winners will be ineligible for five years after being recognized. However, we will consider those who have received Honorable Mention in the past for a current Top Trainer award.
As an incentive to the first 30 people making nominations, Maximum Capacity Media is offering a 2012 Hot Line Crane Guide, which features data on crane models from more than 100 manufacturers. A great historical reference, information dates back to models from the 1950s. The Guide has a $30 retail value.
Winners receive complementary registration to the 2013 ACRP General Assembly and Workshop as well as a scholarship to use for educational purposes. The recipient may use the scholarship or donate it to a worthy student. Scholarships are funded by Top Trainer Sponsors. To sponsor the program, contact Mark Bridger at mbridger@maxcapmedia.com.
The deadline to make a nomination is August 31, 2012. To make a Top Trainer nomination, go to www.craneandrigginghotline.com and click on the Top Trainer logo.
