The Occupational Safety & Health Agency (OSHA) of the USA has issued a direct final rule and notice that extends the requirements of the August 2010 ‘Cranes and derricks in construction’ standard to demolition work and underground construction.
The ruling will streamline OSHA’s standards by eliminating the separate cranes and derricks standard currently used for underground and demolition work.
The amendment also corrects several errors introduced in the 2010 rulemaking to make it easier to understand and implement the standards.
The direct final rule will become effective on November 15th, unless a significant number of adverse comments are received by September 17th.
