Construction of the Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market in the Lithia Square Shopping center is currently underway. Sims Crane crew members were on-hand to help raise two compressor racks above the building in Valrico. Stanley “Bubba” Tillis, CCO certified crane operator and long time employee, headed the project from the cab of the Grove GMK 5240. He had no trouble raising the first unit. The fully extended 197 foot boom securely held the 12-thousand pound unit as “Bubba” swung the huge structure across the construction site and gently placed it on the building’s rooftop.
Oiler Will Mercado took over for the lift of the second unit. On the ground Apprentice Raymond Pierce oversaw the rigging of the massive structure giving the o.k. when it was time for Mercado to shift gears and raise the structure. The compressor rack slowly made its way across the morning sky, safely landing on the rooftop. “Bubba” says the day was a normal day. He does however admit there were a few challenges. “The greatest challenge we faced was the tight, limited access getting the trucks in. Other than that, it’s a piece of cake.”
Deem, LLC brought Sims Crane in to do the job on the Wal-Mart Neighborhood Markets. These stores are designed to closely resemble conventional food-and-drug stores verses the company’s Supercenters which offer more square footage and an expansive array of products. The store located at 901 Lithia Pinecrest Road, in Valrico, FL; is slated for completion in late August.
