Banking on Trusses

Florida Central Credit Union is adding a new branch location in Brandon. The 334 Oakfield Drive location is conveniently located across from Brandon Regional Hospital. Tampa-based Colett Construction and BLR Interiors, Inc are collaborating to renovate a building that was once a BB&T branch location. On a Wednesday morning, a 30-ton Tadano truck crane is on hand to help set the trusses on the rooftop of the building.
Sitting in the cab of the crane, CCO Adrian Lacey uses 101 feet of boom to raise the trusses spread across the parking lot of the building. Each of the trusses weighs in at about 150lbs. Workers on the rooftop are quickly bolt down the trusses. By the time one section is bolted down, another section follows close behind.
In the midst of all this, Project Manager Chef Luney moves quickly around the construction site. As he explains it, “Colett Construction only does work on financial institutions. It is a one-stop shop. The company buys, fixes-up, and manages each of the institution it works with. Today’s job is part of a major re-branding effort. The goal is to redesign the existing banking facility to give it look that’s similar to other Florida Central Credit Unions.”
Over the next few days, additional changes and repairs will be made to building. The doors are set to open in mid-September.
