SC&RA Guide for Operating Cranes Around Power Lines

Booklet and DVD

SC&RA has released a new video, Operating Cranes Around Power Lines, and a companion 40-page booklet of the same title in response to the growing number of reported fatalities in the industry involving power lines. In 2010, the U.S. Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) released 29 CFR Part 1926, providing increased guidelines and requirements for every job site operating cranes near, around or under a power line. The video provides a visual demonstration of safe operating procedures as outlined by OSHA.

Specifically, the 19-minute video covers:

The video and booklet are designed for use as the curriculum and materials for a training course and in planning meetings prior to bringing a crane onto a worksite. The products show real world examples of conditions and situations crane operators, signal persons, riggers, and construction workers will encounter everyday operating near power lines. The companion booklet may be purchased separately for training purposes.

The retail price for the set (video and one booklet) is $499 and SC&RA members pay $359.
